yesterday evening - i was dead tired - i decided to watch a korean movie from director park chan-wook, and i'm happy that i did not skip it for a good portion of sleep.

the movie takes place in a mental institution where young-gun ( who thinks she's a cyborg ) and il-sun ( who believes he can steal souls from people ) meet each other.
young-gun refuses to eat because she thinks her body gets destroyed if she does, so she tries to load her batteries in different ways. after she gets electric shocks she thinks that she's in full energy mode again, and with that, trys ( and dreams ) to murder the 'white people' ( the doctors ) because they took her grandma ( who thought she was a mouse :3 ) away.
il-sun however realizes that she is in danger of dieing and invents a so-called 'rice-megatron' that converts rice into energy when she eats it. this saves young-gun's live and bonds her tighter to il-sun which results in a romantic and lovely relationship.

park chan-wook made a movie that is full of crazy ideas, bright colours and love and the mix is just overwhelming in such a good way. i loved this little moments of pure emotion like when il-sun and young-gun are sitting in a machine room and il-sun is 'operating' the rice-converter device into her body. that was one of the most beautiful scenes ever. or when he finally manages to make young-gun eat so she can live, the hug was just too cute :D
i really, really recommend this beautiful, strange and still so human movie to everyone who like their romance stories subtle, hidden and very original :D
