april '18: leftovers.

roe buck.

just like last time for the month of march, the month of april 2018 had some leftover pictures that i felt fit nowhere else. since they only consisted of a few pictures they didn't really warrant their own big post. so again, i threw them together with other pictures. the first few were from a visit to a constant favourite: fasanerie hanau. it's a big animal park where they keep native game, predators like wolves, lynxes & wild cats and birds galore! it's a really natural & nice animal park and the animals have huge compounds to move around in. i kind of photographed very little animals, i think my camera battery was empty after a while, so... here are still some nice pictures i didn't want to let waste away on my drive.

discovered a gray heron by a little pond.

he's that tiny spot in the middle, where the two trees are very closely standing together.

loved the scenery. and the mirroring.

some wallowing grounds for the wild boars.

i really love the naturally designed compounds. good landscaping.

hello, mr. clean! this lynx wants to be very presentable for you ;)

brimstone looking for nectar. you know what we call these in german? zitronenfalter - lemon butterfly. i like it better than brimstone, haha.

those water holes were everywhere and provided some nice perspectives.

and a duck couple was swimming through one of those water holes as well!

a canal like waterway. my guess is, that it actually was manmade for some unknown reason. maybe as a drainage for some ponds that you can find throughout the park?

this structure also looked like its purpose had to do with water drainage. the park was once a pheasantry, so basically where nobility bred & shot 'wild' game. maybe they also used the ponds for breeding several fish & used various techniques for water level leverage or something.

lynx beauty on the facade of the main building inside the park.

the next three pictures are just of the moon and some clouds and how bright the moon was and therefore illuminated the clouds magically. unfortunately my camera didn't capture it well, but well enough to not absolutely dismiss them as trash.

and since the moon is actually my all time lover and will always be my most beloved one - have this nice feist song for closure of this tiny post:

My moon, my man's a changeable land

Such a lovable land to me

My care, my co-lead barber I know
There's nowhere to go but up
How on my sleeve my beggar should be

The song's out of key again

My fools, my things
We're digging the things
If the candlelit page again
Take it slow

Take it easy on me

Shed some light
Shed some light on things
Take it slow
Take it easy on me
Shed some light
Shed some light on things
My moon and me

Not as good as we've been

It's the dirtiest clean I know
My care, my co-lead barber I know
There's nowhere to go
There's nowhere to go
Take it slow

Take it easy on me

Shed some light
Shed some light on things
Take it slow
Take it easy on me
Shed some light
Shed some light on things
My moon

The moon my man

My moon
The moon my man
My moon
The moon my man
My moon
The moon my man

november: kickelhahn, himmelblau & weimar cemetery.

i had a week off in november and visited my parents ( as i often do on my vacations ). on a sunday morning we headed to the thuringian forest to climb onto the peak of the kickelhahn mountain. the kickelhahn mountain is the landmark mountain of the city of ilmenau . johann wolfgang von goethe , the famous writer & philosopher, often visited ilmenau and also climbed the kickelhahn. oftentimes he stopped at a little hut in the woods to relax for a while and on one of these stops he wrote one of his most known poems.  our little adventure didn't last the whole day, though, as we had a little date with the weimar cemetery to look after the grave of my grandparents and then to visit my cousin and his family. tiny peek onto the kickelhahn tower. thuringian woods - deep dark green. at the goethe hut. this plate shows the german version of the poem goethe wrote here. inside the hut. and here's the english translation. i love this poem so much, as ...

it's that time of the year again.

july '20: lake petersdorf discoveries and a plea against genocide.

the green wild meadows of malchow's sandfeld. in the west of malchow there is a big chunk of forest that spans towards plauer see, a widely 'uncultivated' area these days, but it hasn't always been this way. in my last post i mentioned the nazi munition factory that had been built in these woods, away from prying eyes of their enemies and where they also built an external subcamp for the concentration camp ravensbrück. exactly these woods we explored on a pretty sunny day, betraying the darkness that happened around these parts. isn't it weird that there are places in this world that were built or used by dark forces and horrible regimes and you vist them 80 years later and they are the most peaceful places you can imagine? sometimes my brain can't cope with the contrast of knowing what was in the past and what the present looks and feels like. it definitely leaves me with a strange impression often, kind of like a little sting in my heart and brain that is not ...
