october '17: magic unfolding.

forest portal.

october started out beautifully with sunny days which made the magic of autumn unfold in its most fascinating ways. on the first of october i made a walk near the tiny village of  watzhahn ( it's so tiny it doesn't even have a website ;) ). it's a very rural area in the taunus mountains, perfect for visitors like me who want to walk on paths that are not overcrowded with heaps of annoying human beings. most of the time you are rather untouched by civilization, only now and then you pass by other people who had the same idea of taking a stroll on a sunny october morning. you greet friendly, and they sometimes return the greeting ( other times they look at you like an alien is about to abduct them ), but it's not as stressful as when you encounter them in a more urban space, trying to make way for their hectic bodies so they can inhabit the space they claim to own. in nature you have the space to breathe and it's always a good reminder to not forget that those spaces exist, especially when you've been stuck in the city for days or weeks. sometimes you just gotta move your ass out of all the urbanity surrounding you in order to find some sense of calmness & tranquility and even more important, out of the narrow streets that are your own mind. days in nature remind me that my brain is still capable of finding magic in the world, a special kind of magic that can only be unfurled with reconnecting to nature.

i stumbled upon a makeshift garden/witch yard right at the beginning of my little walk.

it was fenced in with twigs and logs and it felt like a whimsical fairy ground.

the view from the little garden onto taunusstein in the back, which is actually not too far away from tiny watzhahn ( the village is a district of the city ).

i found little carnations inside the garden.

and tiny coneflowers.

don't know for sure, but i think i also identified meadow sage.

another beautiful landscape shot.

parasol mushrooms were graceing my path as i moved onwards.

passing by horse meadows.

i sat down & watched the horses for a while. any landscape with horses is a tranquil one.

another parasol. i could've probably foraged all those mushrooms and prepare them for dinner in the evening, but i felt like i needed to leave them intact. they looked so nice in their little natural settings.

strollers & riders amongst golden dots of foliage.

i came upon a dog later on, too, that first scared me, because he was suddenly standing behind me without making a sound. but we both seemed to realize we were not a threat to each other and each of us spent a little while giving & receiving cuddles.

horses!

have a horses themed patti smith song while you're at it. it's got nothing to do with the magic that are horses ( even though it has ), but anyways. it jumped into my mind while writing the word horses, so i figured it needed to be part of this entry.

but, yeah, horses were everywhere. i encountered a rider on my way back on a big beautiful black horse and i may or may not have fallen a bit for him in those little moments in which we made eye-contact, greeted each other, smiled and moved on. i stood still for a while, looking back and felt a sense of happiness running through me ( followed by an immediate pang of melancholy and sadness - as is always the case with me as soon as one realizes some things are just not meant to be ).

more golden splendor! oh, autumn, you know exactly how to please me.

soft hills.

tiny mushrooms were part of my walk, too!

i was really smitten with this rose coloured fungus.

there were more of them around. the contrast against the brown leaves on the ground was a real eyecatcher.

may '20: seeking modernism.

super pink rhododendron buds emerging! i start off this post with some flower images to appreciate and praise the time of spring, especially the month of may, which is the most abundant spring month to me personally. all the blossoms, all the fresh greens amass during may, and my heart and mind are hardly ever able to not frolick & gush about it all! for this post i am returning to one walk i did with the sole purpose to find a special mid-century villa in königstein ( which would ultimately prove to be a failure - i did find it, but i couldn't approach it properly to have a good look at it and only ever saw a tiny bit of the garden/forest side ). the whole walk was not a letdown, though, as i did find some other mid-century & brutalism gems and thoroughly enjoyed walking through the old spa town in the taunus mountains. rhododendron shrubs yield all kinds of different blossoms in myriad colours, they are easy to breed, therefore a wide variety can be found all over the wor...

autumn impressions.

a selected assortment of autumn related things. ( or things that don't fit into a 'bigger picture' ) i will get around to posting my autumn vacation photos as well. my parents and me visited france a second time and i think it was almost as wonderful as the first time. but i'll get to that soon. moth in front of a vinyl shop window. i bet you know who's smile it is that strikes at you from the record. elvis! i went mushroom hunting again, this time with jasmin, the best mushroom finder i have :) but we didn't have a lot of time together this past autumn, i am very sad to admit this. she's one of our apprentices in the serving area in our market, but recently she's on exchange in a different outlet until january. but soon we'll have her back and our sporadic meetings will stop being sporadic. i think times like these make me realize that there's something worth living for. mostly my life is very grey and i'm so thankful to s...

of dragons & critters and yin & yang kittens.

my cat shadow is a very prolific cat and gives birth to baby sweethearts annually. we always let them grow up until they're old enough to be given away. growing up in a huge garden where they can roam around freely - isn't that the best way to grow up? it's always a joy to visit my parents and my cat in that time of the year. i have also included some pictures of a little rhine trip i made in the middle of may. and the occasional random ones that didn't fit somewhere.  rhine wood dragon. sitting on the rhine beach enjoying the beautiful day. my stone collection of the day. ( i seriously have a lot of stones in my home. i love to collect them! ) the river rhine near eltville. random skull assortment ( shot this at the naxoshalle in frankfurt - i was there for a japanese movie festival ) rosey roses. they also smelled heavenly. raindrops on my window. chameleon tail. i adore spirals. baby kittens drinking momma m...
