fireworks & long walks.

these are the last pictures for a while now. vacations are coming, hungary is waiting, a new car is waiting for a buy and i'm SO in need of a time out from work. after that i will have hundreds of pictures to look through and pick out the best ones. until then, enjoy these!

i have visited my parents last weekend and before that i decided to freshen up my hair. and i watched football. in fact, i'm just right now sitting in front of the tv and wait for argentinia and mexico to play ( germany against england was a blast! really! even though it's a pity for england that the referee didn't see that one goal. ) you see, i'm so in football fever right now.
well, let's do those random pictures first.

strawberries! i've collected almost 2 kilo of them two weeks ago. some of them are in the freezer waiting to be used as a highlight for a delicious strawberry cake.

germany against australia was one hell of a prelude play, didn't you think so? 4:0 was absolutely amazing. well... australia wasn't that amazing, though.

red hair! red seems to be my significant colour. i can't let go of it.

and then i finally made a short trip to my parents.

and i welcomed mini-kitty! and she welcomed me :3

the main reason i was at home was because i wanted to see the krämerbrückenfest in erfurt.

käpt'n blaubär and hein blöd - iconic tale telling awesomeness! well... walter moers is this iconic tale telling awesomeness, actually, he's the master behind it all.

great painted house.

a fire show at the totally overloaded medieval market.

a cute 'ente' ( citroën 2cv ). i drive a citroën ( saxo ) myself and will be driving one in the near future again, it will be a citroën c2 vts, the speed car version of the small ente :3

the highlight of it all were the glorious fireworks.

beautiful, no?

the next day...

mini-kitty is jumping and playing around.

momma kitty joining.

and taking a break.

and we made a walk. picking flowers.

i really am not squeezeing those pretty flowers, unfortunately it looks like i just do that.

and some last self portraits.

i'm not sure if i'll be posting again, this week. if not, we're going to see us in 3 weeks hopefully with a lot of good pictures.

until then! addig!

november: kickelhahn, himmelblau & weimar cemetery.

i had a week off in november and visited my parents ( as i often do on my vacations ). on a sunday morning we headed to the thuringian forest to climb onto the peak of the kickelhahn mountain. the kickelhahn mountain is the landmark mountain of the city of ilmenau . johann wolfgang von goethe , the famous writer & philosopher, often visited ilmenau and also climbed the kickelhahn. oftentimes he stopped at a little hut in the woods to relax for a while and on one of these stops he wrote one of his most known poems.  our little adventure didn't last the whole day, though, as we had a little date with the weimar cemetery to look after the grave of my grandparents and then to visit my cousin and his family. tiny peek onto the kickelhahn tower. thuringian woods - deep dark green. at the goethe hut. this plate shows the german version of the poem goethe wrote here. inside the hut. and here's the english translation. i love this poem so much, as ...

it's that time of the year again.

july '20: lake petersdorf discoveries and a plea against genocide.

the green wild meadows of malchow's sandfeld. in the west of malchow there is a big chunk of forest that spans towards plauer see, a widely 'uncultivated' area these days, but it hasn't always been this way. in my last post i mentioned the nazi munition factory that had been built in these woods, away from prying eyes of their enemies and where they also built an external subcamp for the concentration camp ravensbrück. exactly these woods we explored on a pretty sunny day, betraying the darkness that happened around these parts. isn't it weird that there are places in this world that were built or used by dark forces and horrible regimes and you vist them 80 years later and they are the most peaceful places you can imagine? sometimes my brain can't cope with the contrast of knowing what was in the past and what the present looks and feels like. it definitely leaves me with a strange impression often, kind of like a little sting in my heart and brain that is not ...
