photogenius # 2.

i'm sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, for not updating at all.
i bet you're sick hearing that work is a full-time-job for me as of now, and all i want to do when coming home is having a huge portion of sleep. my car is is broke now ( oh, it's just the engine... AGAIN! ) and i don't really have time to search after appartements and my mind is also fucking me. yeah. there are days where i like to put an end to everything, where i think i should close my eyes shut forever. but inside me, the tough mari is still in hope of better times to come.

what a way to start this week's photogenius-theme.

# james meakin photography - rich colours, inspirations from traditional clothings all around the world. i love james meakin's whimsical view of fashion.

# natasha poly by glen luchford for V # 63 january/february 2010 - natasha poly makes tousled hair look good. and i don't have to feel guilty anymore when my hair is unkempt for a day, haha. and it isn't really the clothes that took my heart but exactly how she wears her hair ( even though the crazy mix of clothes is still interesting to look at. )

# sasha pivarova by mario testino - this little set is all about childhood memories. yeah. sasha pretty much has that child thing going on, with these innocent blue eyes and the surroundings full of childhood dreams ( i.e. rocking horse, adventure in the forests, dressing up in too huge boots and clothes ). i absolutely adore this shoot!

# lily cole by carter smith for vogue nippon march 2006 - and while we're at the innocence thing, lily cole is just innocence in perfection!

# shu pei qin, patricia v, jenny sinkaberg by dan jackson for vogue china february 2010 - the colour white is the main aspect here and it's really wonderful! i love that clean look a lot. also... those clothes have this kind of charlie-chaplin-feel to it, with the oversizing and overall trampy look. and this eye-makeup! i really should try out white next time i'm going out.

# mathias lauridsen by camilla akrans for numéro homme #18 fall/winter 2010 - there's such a rockabilly feeling here! i love these portraits. mathias lauridsen is one really fine guy.

# juliette lewis by skingraft designs for s magazine - first: JULIETTE LEWIS! second: pegasus head wear! this shoot is SOO rad!

# peter lindbergh's black & white variations - a lot of well know people are photographed here ( hello mrs. swinton & lady barkin! ). and in the most beautiful way! very melancholic and blue.

# the unbelievably lovely faery wedding ( found on kissthegroom.com ) - what a fantastic way to marry each other! when i say its faery wonderland IT IS faery wonderland! absolute faerytastic!

the week's most adored:

1.

karl lagerfeld's interpretation of metropolis ( the movie from 1927 ) made me speechless. i need to rewatch the movie now, i'm CRAVING to rewatch, to be more exact. i mean... that toni garrn person is totally personating brigitte helm. totally! ( oh watch out that sentence right there. that person is personating? yeah. ) and baptiste giabiconi is... personating nick cave then? but he's still rad in these photos.

2.

'a balletic performance showcases spring fashion's raw edges and powdery textures' by ben toms for dazed & confused february 2010 - what a title! but it contains everything you'll find in the set! ballet references, powder, flakey, homeless and sharp clothings! plus the creepy ballerina effect!

may '20: seeking modernism.

super pink rhododendron buds emerging! i start off this post with some flower images to appreciate and praise the time of spring, especially the month of may, which is the most abundant spring month to me personally. all the blossoms, all the fresh greens amass during may, and my heart and mind are hardly ever able to not frolick & gush about it all! for this post i am returning to one walk i did with the sole purpose to find a special mid-century villa in königstein ( which would ultimately prove to be a failure - i did find it, but i couldn't approach it properly to have a good look at it and only ever saw a tiny bit of the garden/forest side ). the whole walk was not a letdown, though, as i did find some other mid-century & brutalism gems and thoroughly enjoyed walking through the old spa town in the taunus mountains. rhododendron shrubs yield all kinds of different blossoms in myriad colours, they are easy to breed, therefore a wide variety can be found all over the wor...

autumn impressions.

a selected assortment of autumn related things. ( or things that don't fit into a 'bigger picture' ) i will get around to posting my autumn vacation photos as well. my parents and me visited france a second time and i think it was almost as wonderful as the first time. but i'll get to that soon. moth in front of a vinyl shop window. i bet you know who's smile it is that strikes at you from the record. elvis! i went mushroom hunting again, this time with jasmin, the best mushroom finder i have :) but we didn't have a lot of time together this past autumn, i am very sad to admit this. she's one of our apprentices in the serving area in our market, but recently she's on exchange in a different outlet until january. but soon we'll have her back and our sporadic meetings will stop being sporadic. i think times like these make me realize that there's something worth living for. mostly my life is very grey and i'm so thankful to s...

of dragons & critters and yin & yang kittens.

my cat shadow is a very prolific cat and gives birth to baby sweethearts annually. we always let them grow up until they're old enough to be given away. growing up in a huge garden where they can roam around freely - isn't that the best way to grow up? it's always a joy to visit my parents and my cat in that time of the year. i have also included some pictures of a little rhine trip i made in the middle of may. and the occasional random ones that didn't fit somewhere.  rhine wood dragon. sitting on the rhine beach enjoying the beautiful day. my stone collection of the day. ( i seriously have a lot of stones in my home. i love to collect them! ) the river rhine near eltville. random skull assortment ( shot this at the naxoshalle in frankfurt - i was there for a japanese movie festival ) rosey roses. they also smelled heavenly. raindrops on my window. chameleon tail. i adore spirals. baby kittens drinking momma m...
