photogenius # 1.

i've decided to split the weekly glee sections into sections of their own. ( because i have no time to do a proper weekly glee post anymore. work is consuming my life. and i need to take care of non-internet things as well, like finding a good place to live in after the last day of april. )
plus it's also more comfortable for you guys, since you don't have to deal with huge chaotic posts anymore, haha.

let's start.

aj abualrub, blaine cook, cheyne hannegan, terron wood by blair getz mezibov for men's vogue china - fly-fishing guys dressed in vintage-styled clothes = nostalgia. it's rare that i like men's photography, but this time the concept made me fall in love.

the colours of asia by palani mohan - these shots are so ingenious and incredible! palani mohan manages to capture the colours of the bright asian continent so well. this set should totally remind you, how awesome our planet is. and that every tradition needs to be preserved. especially the old ones. there's so much more wisdom to those old tribes than you can ever obtain in 'the new world'.

siri tollerød by david sims for sportmax spring 2010 - exquisite design in a black and white manner. i really love the model's white alabaster skin! snowwhite is nothing against this.

jan masny photography - i really have a thing for floating and ghostly things and jan masny photographs all this! there's a very elegant touch to all his work. i especially love the ballet photos <3>

enrique badulescu for l'officiel 2009 - this reminds me of my visual kei time some years ago. everything here is so drenched in eroguro-style! i get a little nostalgic here. yukke / tatsuro - style ( my favourite boys from mucc back then )!

du juan by lachlan bailey vor vogue china december 2009 - this is all about silver highlights. silver makeup, silver hair, silver mood!

cynthia dicker by ellen von unwerth for lula mag - reciting the bob dylan lyric on the entry page for this editorial: everybody knows that baby's got new clothes, but lately i see her ribbons and her bows have fallen from her curls. and isn't it fitting?

hannah holman by alasdair mcmlellan for vogue russia january 2010 - rockabilly-styled wonderfulness!

natalia vodianova by nick knight for vogue uk february 2010 - i swear to you, if i did not find paco peregrins' photographs, then this shoot would've been my week's favourite pick. nick knight is the god of the photographers ( at least to me ). how can you not love him for depicting natalia vodianova as some kind of branch/twig butterfly? ( oh no, please do not remind me of the moth invasion having a party in my kitchen... ). but still. amazing!

the week's favourite:

paco peregrin's 'milkmaids in space' ( found on twistedlamb. ) - definitely my most favourite set this week! i don't know where to look at! the details are mindblowing and everything about the medieval settings is just... simply and purely beautiful.

Du willst also doch ausziehen? Wird vielleicht besser sein. Wobei - was war da mit Motten? Oo Blick da noch nicht ganz durch. Hab mir das so stückweise zusammengelesen ;)

@ diz:

november: kickelhahn, himmelblau & weimar cemetery.

i had a week off in november and visited my parents ( as i often do on my vacations ). on a sunday morning we headed to the thuringian forest to climb onto the peak of the kickelhahn mountain. the kickelhahn mountain is the landmark mountain of the city of ilmenau . johann wolfgang von goethe , the famous writer & philosopher, often visited ilmenau and also climbed the kickelhahn. oftentimes he stopped at a little hut in the woods to relax for a while and on one of these stops he wrote one of his most known poems.  our little adventure didn't last the whole day, though, as we had a little date with the weimar cemetery to look after the grave of my grandparents and then to visit my cousin and his family. tiny peek onto the kickelhahn tower. thuringian woods - deep dark green. at the goethe hut. this plate shows the german version of the poem goethe wrote here. inside the hut. and here's the english translation. i love this poem so much, as ...

july '20: lake petersdorf discoveries and a plea against genocide.

the green wild meadows of malchow's sandfeld. in the west of malchow there is a big chunk of forest that spans towards plauer see, a widely 'uncultivated' area these days, but it hasn't always been this way. in my last post i mentioned the nazi munition factory that had been built in these woods, away from prying eyes of their enemies and where they also built an external subcamp for the concentration camp ravensbrück. exactly these woods we explored on a pretty sunny day, betraying the darkness that happened around these parts. isn't it weird that there are places in this world that were built or used by dark forces and horrible regimes and you vist them 80 years later and they are the most peaceful places you can imagine? sometimes my brain can't cope with the contrast of knowing what was in the past and what the present looks and feels like. it definitely leaves me with a strange impression often, kind of like a little sting in my heart and brain that is not ...
