weekly glee #12 2009.

the elections are over, frau merkel 'reigns' over us for another 4 years. i'm really curious how the new coalition will lead us through these years.
but for now i have some really delightful things to show!

1. desertions.

old barn / decayed paint

# a 1919 carriage house by realbruts - these little houses were meant to be garages and carriage houses. what i don't understand: how can you use these as such? i imagine myself living in them, instead of storeing cars and stuff in it. someone should remodel this as some kind of appartements or a restaurant. too beautiful to be abandoned!
# an old, decayed court by alexdoomer2009 - this courtyard is again one of the beauties that russia has in store. the country must be overflown with old buildings and abandoned places.

2. photogenius.

tavi gevinson / lady gaga bunny pose

# vendula hilkova by irina lis for pink september 2009 - one thing which caught my eyes in this set is the punk styled body. the other thing was the form of vendula's eyebrows, haha. i love them! other than that: there are some nice pieces of clothing in these pictures.
# tavi gevinson by jamie morgan for pop fall/winter - it's incredible how well known this 13-year-old blogger is already! her style is pretty diversified and she mixes some styles that other people would never wear! i like that she's not giving a damn about recent 'in' styles and even wears old-fashioned pieces together with extreme modern ones. for a 13-year-old this means pretty good self confidence! i haven't seen same aged girls yet, most of them wear the regular bullshit that everyone wears. she's such an exception!
# 'monokel diele' : freja beha erichsen, heidi mount, baptiste giabiconi by karl lagerfeld for vogue germany october 2009 - okay, karl lagerfeld has been following me lately. i don't know, i was always that kind of girl that made fun of him, but recently he climbed up on my list of likeable people. it has to do with his photographing skills. and all in all, he really knows what good styling should look like. in this set he plays around with androgynity and it's absolutely fantastic!
# lady gaga by josh olins for vogue uk october 2009 - yeah, despite being an enfant terrible of the music industry, we all must admit that she's got huge style. i don't care if she's crazy, all i know is, that she's revolutionizing fashion world. see also: ellen von unwerth shoot for out magazine!

3. diversity.

occult ritual? / perfect day for bananafish

# the vigilant citizen has put up another awesome conspiracy theory of the VMAs being a massive mega-ritual. so eye-opening! but still, be careful, you should be critical with these stories, it's conspiracy after all.
# bob hates andy. so did bob dylan hate andy warhol? rumour says, he got a painting of elvis from andy warhol and then traded it for a couch. and everyone thought he did that because he doesn't like warhol. this little site is about 'bob hating andy' and the comics are truly exquisite :D

4. video time.

meet a cute french bulldog rolling around on the floor :D

i nearly pissed myself watching this video. it's hilarious! dating shows in the 80ies were fun :P

and on it goes with famous pairings. last time it was bob dylan and patti smith, this time it's nick cave and pj harvey. don't you love these wonderful moments of love?

this week's discovery: electronic pop duo la roux!
unfortunately i can't embed the video to 'bulletproof' here, but i insist you visit laroux's youtube site and watch it there! first, i was pretty unsure what to think of this music, but now i'm so in love! and singer elly jackson reminds me of the actress tilda swinton! do i have to tell you that i love tilda swinton? :P

may '20: seeking modernism.

super pink rhododendron buds emerging! i start off this post with some flower images to appreciate and praise the time of spring, especially the month of may, which is the most abundant spring month to me personally. all the blossoms, all the fresh greens amass during may, and my heart and mind are hardly ever able to not frolick & gush about it all! for this post i am returning to one walk i did with the sole purpose to find a special mid-century villa in königstein ( which would ultimately prove to be a failure - i did find it, but i couldn't approach it properly to have a good look at it and only ever saw a tiny bit of the garden/forest side ). the whole walk was not a letdown, though, as i did find some other mid-century & brutalism gems and thoroughly enjoyed walking through the old spa town in the taunus mountains. rhododendron shrubs yield all kinds of different blossoms in myriad colours, they are easy to breed, therefore a wide variety can be found all over the wor...

july '20: lake petersdorf discoveries and a plea against genocide.

the green wild meadows of malchow's sandfeld. in the west of malchow there is a big chunk of forest that spans towards plauer see, a widely 'uncultivated' area these days, but it hasn't always been this way. in my last post i mentioned the nazi munition factory that had been built in these woods, away from prying eyes of their enemies and where they also built an external subcamp for the concentration camp ravensbrück. exactly these woods we explored on a pretty sunny day, betraying the darkness that happened around these parts. isn't it weird that there are places in this world that were built or used by dark forces and horrible regimes and you vist them 80 years later and they are the most peaceful places you can imagine? sometimes my brain can't cope with the contrast of knowing what was in the past and what the present looks and feels like. it definitely leaves me with a strange impression often, kind of like a little sting in my heart and brain that is not ...

the america chronicles '22: austin I - city of the violet crown.

sighted on the way to austin: the texas  colorado river . but beware, this is not the iconic colorado river ( 2.334 km long ) that has its source in the rocky mountains and confluences in the gulf of california, flowing through the grand canyon and other magnificent landscapes along the way, but this is texas' very own colorado river with a length of 1.387 km starting in the llano estacado plains in northwestern texas, and eventually ending up in the gulf of mexico at matagorda bay . why there are two colorado rivers in the US, i really don't know 😅 my guess is, that they were named by two people in different times, not knowing of the other's colorado river discovery. we'll meet the texas colorado river again in austin, so i will probably bestow more information on you eventually ;D a random road squirrel, also found on the way to austin. austin is about 187 miles ( 300 km ) away from baytown and is situated west from there in central texas. it sits at the foot of th...
