weekly glee # 8 2009.

woot, time for interesting things again!
it's lovely weather outside and i'm craving to go swimming! so let's start!

1. desertions.

ship abandonment / les baux de palm springs

# the ship by mysicant - wonderful and dangerous shoots of an abandoned ship. this must be a thrilling site!
# les baux de palm springs on luxist.com - well, this house isn't exactly abandoned, but on sale! and what a wonderful villa this is! situated on a hill with a lot of stones around and very natural and beautiful. and the furniture is fantastically old-styled!

2. photogenius.

redheads overload.

# gisele bündchen by phil poynter - transformation from young to old. great!
# lara stone & baptiste giabiconi by karl lagerfeld for harper's bazaar 2009 - very mundane venice and canale grande photoshoot. karl lagerfeld is a very fantastic photographer and i love his points of view on fashion topics. he can be pretty self-ironic, which is something i really like about him.
# mona johannesson by marcus ohlsson - this photoshoot is absolutely devine! i have a thing for red-haired people and this is the most wonderful red i have seen on somebody! but it's not just this, the clothes are very extravagant ( but still somehow simple ) and it rounds up the overall view perfectly!
# olga sherer by elisabeth toll - these could be easily used for a 40ies gangster movie. again, a redhead is the protagonist, and it's a very classy one! the mood in these is incredible.

3. diversity.

lady gaga / wooden chair

# lady gaga - the illuminati puppet : this is the best conspiracy theory i have heard recently: lady gaga has been mind-blown in an illuminati project. now you think it's funny, but no-no, these people are very serious about it! they researched very deep on the informations and they really believe it! 'the vigilant citizen' is a very interesting site, although it leads to extreme paranoia by some people. so don't believe all that is written here! even though it seems very plausible at times.
# the perforated house by kavellaris urban design - this house is crazy! the transparence, the open upper floor, the strange terrace, everything's strange here! but still, the rooms themselves are pretty!
# reclaimed wood furniture by gursan ergil - these chairs and benches are truly amazing. they're made of very old wood and have a very nostalgic feeling. i'd definitely put a bench on my balcony and the little chair in my living room, haha!

and some videos!

marilyn monroe - my heart belongs to daddy

i love the performance a lot and it's good to see that you don't have to be sexed up when giving a show, haha :D well, it's the monroe anyway, she ALWAYS looked gorgeous.

in memoration of les paul ( famous guitarist who was greatly involved in advancing the e-guitars ) , who died a few days ago aged 94:

les paul & mary ford - how high the moon

november: kickelhahn, himmelblau & weimar cemetery.

i had a week off in november and visited my parents ( as i often do on my vacations ). on a sunday morning we headed to the thuringian forest to climb onto the peak of the kickelhahn mountain. the kickelhahn mountain is the landmark mountain of the city of ilmenau . johann wolfgang von goethe , the famous writer & philosopher, often visited ilmenau and also climbed the kickelhahn. oftentimes he stopped at a little hut in the woods to relax for a while and on one of these stops he wrote one of his most known poems.  our little adventure didn't last the whole day, though, as we had a little date with the weimar cemetery to look after the grave of my grandparents and then to visit my cousin and his family. tiny peek onto the kickelhahn tower. thuringian woods - deep dark green. at the goethe hut. this plate shows the german version of the poem goethe wrote here. inside the hut. and here's the english translation. i love this poem so much, as ...

in the forests.

it's that time of the year again.

july '20: lake petersdorf discoveries and a plea against genocide.

the green wild meadows of malchow's sandfeld. in the west of malchow there is a big chunk of forest that spans towards plauer see, a widely 'uncultivated' area these days, but it hasn't always been this way. in my last post i mentioned the nazi munition factory that had been built in these woods, away from prying eyes of their enemies and where they also built an external subcamp for the concentration camp ravensbrück. exactly these woods we explored on a pretty sunny day, betraying the darkness that happened around these parts. isn't it weird that there are places in this world that were built or used by dark forces and horrible regimes and you vist them 80 years later and they are the most peaceful places you can imagine? sometimes my brain can't cope with the contrast of knowing what was in the past and what the present looks and feels like. it definitely leaves me with a strange impression often, kind of like a little sting in my heart and brain that is not ...
