2018: year in review.

if you had to describe 2018 in three words, what would they be? rootedness, heartbreak, resilience. what, or who, are you most thankful for? this planet, because it's heartbreakingly beautiful. artists & musicians for providing soul food & giving my crazy whirlwind mind some kind of order with expressing what i can't express myself. family, friends & colleagues - off- & online ❤❤❤ ( they all helped me immensely through the toughest times of the year with their abilities to listen or spending time with me ). what new things did you discover about yourself? i actually like to be touched and loved! and i am able to still love ( gasp! ) even though it might not be an all-encompassing love, but a limited one only available for very few persons in my life. i am resilient and self-reliant and proud of it. i'm not a very communicative person - but i'm trying my best to overcome that and be more open. also, i feel like i sometimes la...

april '18: leftovers.

roe buck. just like last time for the month of march, the month of april 2018 had some leftover pictures that i felt fit nowhere else. since they only consisted of a few pictures they didn't really warrant their own big post. so again, i threw them together with other pictures. the first few were from a visit to a constant favourite: fasanerie hanau. it's a big animal park where they keep native game, predators like wolves, lynxes & wild cats and birds galore! it's a really natural & nice animal park and the animals have huge compounds to move around in. i kind of photographed very little animals, i think my camera battery was empty after a while, so... here are still some nice pictures i didn't want to let waste away on my drive. discovered a gray heron by a little pond. he's that tiny spot in the middle, where the two trees are very closely standing together. loved the scenery. and the mirroring. some wallowing grounds for the wi...

april '18: assmannshausen.

over the roofs of assmannshausen . ah, the upper middle rhine valley, this beautiful, mesmerizing place. it seriously is a region that steals my heart every time, no matter how big the time difference is since i last visited. this region, with it's high cliffs & vineyards, the little historic villages charmingly nestled into the side valleys, the river rhine meandering through its narrow confinements, is purely stunning & satisfying. it is one of those places i can never get tired of, because i always, always find something interesting and it nourishes some part of me that loves dramatic landscapes. my little walk in late april lead me to assmannshausen , a district of rüdesheim city. it's one of those aforementioned cute villages with breathtaking views on the rhine gorge , and walking around in the vineyards will definitely offer you some wonderful perspectives. visiting in spring is especially nice, because everything is in such a crisp green atmosphere, s...

april '18: singularity.

tulips near st. augustine's. there's a lot of very singular places & spaces in wiesbaden, obviously, as there are in every city on this earth. when i stroll through wiesbaden i'm on the lookout for these special places - a modern building surrounded by plant life, old villas overgrown with wisterias, tulips jumping out of nowhere next to churches and abstract architecture. and especially in spring i'm out to find ALL the blossoms. and it's always so wonderful to witness how wiesbaden shines a resplendent light again in all this gorgeous spring glory. it comes to mind one word, again & again: singularity. because this city is beautiful, is interesting and it surprises time & time again. here are the aforementioned wisterias i found on this particulalr walk through wiesbaden. absolutely dreamy. the building this plant is growing on is one from 1892 built by friedrich rock. it's a kind of magic , right?  ( click the link for some s...
