photogenius #4.

i'm in the process of moving into a new home so you won't hear from me for another long time. ( i know i'm kind of barely here, but my wish is to somehow get good and fast internet access after i've moved and maybe then i try to post more regularly. )

meanwhile here's another installment of my most favourite photos found on the webz.

#1 freja beha erichsen & mathias lauridsen by steven meisel for vogue italia march 2010 - warning, these pictures are not really safe for work. i love these pictures for their dark and eerie atmosphere and the fact that it seems like a slavery relationship between freja and mathias. and still, they seem to comfort each other. steven meisel managed to capture facial expressions pretty good ( i have some kind of love/hate thing going on with steven meisel, sometimes he does outstanding photography and other times he just shoots pure garbage ).

#2 ash stymest & josh beech & adrien sahores by richard bush for numéro homme issue #19 2010 - black & white photography using shadows in a really wonderful way. these are some really good men shoots!

#3 kirsten dunst by mario testino for v #64 spring 2010 - kirsten dunst dressed and made up like a 20ies movie star = win. but only because of the 20ies movie star thing, haha. she looks really beautiful made up like this.

#4 rosie tupper by nicole bentley for vogue australia april 2010 - apparently nude colours seem to be en vogue these days. i didn't know what to think of this trend until now. wouldn't you want to run around in garments that make you look almost naked from far away? i'd love to see the stares coming from people until they'd have to realize that i actually wear clothes, haha. ( there are some yellow and blue bits thrown in here too, but i like to imagine the dresses on the black and white photos as pure nude colourness, so shhh... ). oh. and the model is GORGEOUSSSS...!

#5 freja beha erichsen by boo george for twin magazine - this is basically how i want to run around all day. freja has this androgynity thing going on, i somehow like that. girlboy-ish looks or boygirl-ish looks are pretty much my cup of tea. i don't like the typical girl nor do i like the typical guy. i want to be both, man and woman. is that strange?

#6 natasha poly by craig mcdean for vogue italy 2010 - i was never really into sport activities but this set of gorgeous pictures using geometrical elements really makes me think about doing some running or aerobics. in a dress of course.

#7 jonas kesseler by christian conti for uomo collezioni issue #70 s/s 2010 - this tutorial is called ' wired' and wired it is! jonas kesseler is covered in wires and it's damn sexy, if i can say so. if i'd be a guy i'd wear those clothes every day.

#8 guinevere van seenus by javier vallhonrat for vogue uk april 2010 - glitz, glitter, sparkles. do i have to say more to this?

this week's favourites:

brad bowers by hedi slimane for vogue hommes japan #4 - jesus, kiss, flower power. you think that is a terrible combination? let me tell you, it isn't! you'll get all these things in this beautiful set of pictures. i love you, hedi slimane.

lara stone by paolo roversi for vogue italy march 2010 - !!! this is almost all i have to say about this ingenious work. mr. roversi works with shadows appearing like wings, wolves, thorns etc. and so creates an outstanding effect! believe me. this is rightly called the week's favourite. i mean.. i haven't seen this technique before.

stella tennant, imogen morris clarke by tim walker for vogue italy march 2010 - the chosen king this week is mr. tim walker! his photography is like dreams come true! every picture is a scene of your most fantastical fantasies. this time he mixed up 16th/17th century costumes with theatrical environments. i can't choose a favourite! every picture is just so purely full of details and beauty, it almost makes me dizzy in the head.

may '20: seeking modernism.

super pink rhododendron buds emerging! i start off this post with some flower images to appreciate and praise the time of spring, especially the month of may, which is the most abundant spring month to me personally. all the blossoms, all the fresh greens amass during may, and my heart and mind are hardly ever able to not frolick & gush about it all! for this post i am returning to one walk i did with the sole purpose to find a special mid-century villa in königstein ( which would ultimately prove to be a failure - i did find it, but i couldn't approach it properly to have a good look at it and only ever saw a tiny bit of the garden/forest side ). the whole walk was not a letdown, though, as i did find some other mid-century & brutalism gems and thoroughly enjoyed walking through the old spa town in the taunus mountains. rhododendron shrubs yield all kinds of different blossoms in myriad colours, they are easy to breed, therefore a wide variety can be found all over the wor...

july '20: lake petersdorf discoveries and a plea against genocide.

the green wild meadows of malchow's sandfeld. in the west of malchow there is a big chunk of forest that spans towards plauer see, a widely 'uncultivated' area these days, but it hasn't always been this way. in my last post i mentioned the nazi munition factory that had been built in these woods, away from prying eyes of their enemies and where they also built an external subcamp for the concentration camp ravensbrück. exactly these woods we explored on a pretty sunny day, betraying the darkness that happened around these parts. isn't it weird that there are places in this world that were built or used by dark forces and horrible regimes and you vist them 80 years later and they are the most peaceful places you can imagine? sometimes my brain can't cope with the contrast of knowing what was in the past and what the present looks and feels like. it definitely leaves me with a strange impression often, kind of like a little sting in my heart and brain that is not ...

the america chronicles '22: austin I - city of the violet crown.

sighted on the way to austin: the texas  colorado river . but beware, this is not the iconic colorado river ( 2.334 km long ) that has its source in the rocky mountains and confluences in the gulf of california, flowing through the grand canyon and other magnificent landscapes along the way, but this is texas' very own colorado river with a length of 1.387 km starting in the llano estacado plains in northwestern texas, and eventually ending up in the gulf of mexico at matagorda bay . why there are two colorado rivers in the US, i really don't know 😅 my guess is, that they were named by two people in different times, not knowing of the other's colorado river discovery. we'll meet the texas colorado river again in austin, so i will probably bestow more information on you eventually ;D a random road squirrel, also found on the way to austin. austin is about 187 miles ( 300 km ) away from baytown and is situated west from there in central texas. it sits at the foot of th...
