photogenius # 3.

here's the promised third photogenius edition. well, a little bit huge this time, haha.

# julia hafstrom by arthur elgort for teen vogue february 2010 - julia hafstrom wears the most wonderful red lipstick colour here! well. and i simply can't say no to redheads.

# ginta lapiņa by rony shram - very romantic shoot! ginta is a typical cutiepie.

# ranya mordanova for zara s/s 2010 - everything is worn so hippie-esque here with a touch of minnie-mouse feeling. well, i think this is the style that i adore mostly recently. i want to wear these clothes all day long!

# karen elson by craig mcdean - craig mcdean is well known for crazy rainbowy tutorials ( like the sasha pivovarova portrait down there ). this shoot comes as a water-coloured painting with bubblegum pastels. and it's floating. at least in front of my eyes, haha.

# róisín murphy by dancian for zoo germany f/w '09-'10 #25 - this woman is proving that you still can be one hell of a sex bomb after you've grown big with a baby in the oven. the clothes are very victorian inspired, i love this! reminds me that i'm still more likely a goth than something else, haha :D oh, and let's compliment THE HAIR! i want to die my hair again in crazy colours now. like when i had blue/green/yellow hair... i miss it!

# siri tollerød by sølve sundsbø for vogue italy 2008 - the softness here is so breathtaking. like she's been stuck in a creme-coloured fog finding her way out. sølve sundsbø has a thing for all things dreamy and misty. here's another nice shoot with jessica stam!

#3d photography - i'm not sure who shot and made this, but it's a great idea! go get your 3d glasses from your last visit to the movies ( avatar for example ) and watch the geniousity!

# coco rocha by craig mcdean 2008 - i think i should've done another special of the week. i mean.. craig mcdean does some fantastic shoots, no? definitely has the potential to be one of my personal favourite photographers. especially shooting female comic heros / villains. love!

# daria werbowy by david sims for vogue us march 2010 - I. AM. IN. SERIOUS. LOVE!
that is almost all i've got to say. look at the mcqueen shoes! have you ever seen them looking so primal and natural? and hell, i love this amazon chic!

# abbey lee kershaw, patricia van der vliet & karlie kloss by arthur elgort for vogue us march 2010 - this shoot depicts my ideal idea of being a vagabond!

the week's favourites: sasha pivovarova.

sasha pivovarova is one of my most favourite models. she's so changeable and is doing the most fantastical and experimental shoots of all the super models out there. every tutorial i've seen of her yet left me staring at the pictures all astonished and inspired.

# sasha pivovarova by craig mcdean for interview february 2010 - what an editorial. patterns over patterns, manga eyes drawn on parchment paper, rainbow colours! a feast for the eyes!

# sasha pivovarova by tim walker for vogue uk march 2010 - it's tim walker! you know how i adore tim walker's photography. this set is a mix of alice in wonderland inspirations and chinaware colours. doesn't the pic above remind you of the little dormouse ( one of the guests on madhatter's tea party )? no apparently not, but i still have this feeling when looking at her. such beauty!

# sasha pivovarova by emma summerton for vogue italia february 2010 - such a burlesque arrangement! by now, you get what i mean with sasha modeling in experimental shootings.

november: kickelhahn, himmelblau & weimar cemetery.

i had a week off in november and visited my parents ( as i often do on my vacations ). on a sunday morning we headed to the thuringian forest to climb onto the peak of the kickelhahn mountain. the kickelhahn mountain is the landmark mountain of the city of ilmenau . johann wolfgang von goethe , the famous writer & philosopher, often visited ilmenau and also climbed the kickelhahn. oftentimes he stopped at a little hut in the woods to relax for a while and on one of these stops he wrote one of his most known poems.  our little adventure didn't last the whole day, though, as we had a little date with the weimar cemetery to look after the grave of my grandparents and then to visit my cousin and his family. tiny peek onto the kickelhahn tower. thuringian woods - deep dark green. at the goethe hut. this plate shows the german version of the poem goethe wrote here. inside the hut. and here's the english translation. i love this poem so much, as ...

it's that time of the year again.

july '20: lake petersdorf discoveries and a plea against genocide.

the green wild meadows of malchow's sandfeld. in the west of malchow there is a big chunk of forest that spans towards plauer see, a widely 'uncultivated' area these days, but it hasn't always been this way. in my last post i mentioned the nazi munition factory that had been built in these woods, away from prying eyes of their enemies and where they also built an external subcamp for the concentration camp ravensbrück. exactly these woods we explored on a pretty sunny day, betraying the darkness that happened around these parts. isn't it weird that there are places in this world that were built or used by dark forces and horrible regimes and you vist them 80 years later and they are the most peaceful places you can imagine? sometimes my brain can't cope with the contrast of knowing what was in the past and what the present looks and feels like. it definitely leaves me with a strange impression often, kind of like a little sting in my heart and brain that is not ...
