hello dears, i haven't posted in ages!

here's to a huge post about everything i liked the last few weeks!

1. abandoned places.

you know my obsession with ruins and old places. i've discovered a lot of wonderful places via thehoodwatch : and you will know my name is the lord; eastern state penitentiary philadelphia ( look at al capone's cell room! ); daniels, and abandoned mill town; rome revisited - a school for boys)

and also this russian fellow alexdoomer2009 visits the most beautiful ruins: the abandoned manor of mr. p.; abandoned church; another manor; and manors over manors!

and here are some random findings on abandoned places: the enrichment plant by the_reverse ( another russian photographer! those russians have a lot of talent. ); abandoned moscow in 2002 by melkore; an abandoned estate by mordolff ( PLEASE look at these! they're soooooo soooo glorious! )

2. fashion photography.

here are some of my favourite photography sets!

1. malgosia bela by melvin sokolsky for vogue paris 2001 : focusses on different stocking styles with wonderful dresses!
2. elena melnik by magnus unnar for flair italy 2009: this is all about the celtic-influenced headwear! wonderful set!
3. couture magic by stephen meisel for vogue italia couture supplement 2005: an enourmous set of baroque-styled woman! they look so sick in these and yet so beautiful!
4. guinevere van seenus by mario sorrent for W 2009: very gloomy and melancholic photoshoot!
5. coco rocha by solve sundsbo for numero magazine: clown-inspired and very, very beautiful! coco rocha has the most fantastic skin ever!
6. and last but not least, my most favourite these past weeks: courtney love by hedi slimane! these are so poetic to me!

3. the selby.

the selby has photographed 2 great places again! first, robert longo at his studio in new york city ( watch out the atomic bomb sculptures! ) and second, pauline forster's george tavern in london ( with a really nice flat up there! very old and very nostalgic! )

and now some other findings!

jethro cave, son of nick cave! yum.

please, someone send me some laura zindel dishware! her designs are so great! and who does not want to have beetles and spiders and birds on their plates and cups?

and at the very last! bob dylan's new graphics collection is out!

i love his graphics, because they have this reminiscent mood going on, like when you just sit down for a moment and start to realize that time's flown by so fast.
i'm a bit sad, because i can't afford one of his pictures...

but hey, i finally managed to write again!
i should not neglect things like these. especially not, when i have access to fast internet :P
soon this'll be over again and i'm back in wiesbaden for work. yeah. mostly for work.
wish you good time, until next time!

love,
mari.

may '20: seeking modernism.

super pink rhododendron buds emerging! i start off this post with some flower images to appreciate and praise the time of spring, especially the month of may, which is the most abundant spring month to me personally. all the blossoms, all the fresh greens amass during may, and my heart and mind are hardly ever able to not frolick & gush about it all! for this post i am returning to one walk i did with the sole purpose to find a special mid-century villa in königstein ( which would ultimately prove to be a failure - i did find it, but i couldn't approach it properly to have a good look at it and only ever saw a tiny bit of the garden/forest side ). the whole walk was not a letdown, though, as i did find some other mid-century & brutalism gems and thoroughly enjoyed walking through the old spa town in the taunus mountains. rhododendron shrubs yield all kinds of different blossoms in myriad colours, they are easy to breed, therefore a wide variety can be found all over the wor...

autumn impressions.

a selected assortment of autumn related things. ( or things that don't fit into a 'bigger picture' ) i will get around to posting my autumn vacation photos as well. my parents and me visited france a second time and i think it was almost as wonderful as the first time. but i'll get to that soon. moth in front of a vinyl shop window. i bet you know who's smile it is that strikes at you from the record. elvis! i went mushroom hunting again, this time with jasmin, the best mushroom finder i have :) but we didn't have a lot of time together this past autumn, i am very sad to admit this. she's one of our apprentices in the serving area in our market, but recently she's on exchange in a different outlet until january. but soon we'll have her back and our sporadic meetings will stop being sporadic. i think times like these make me realize that there's something worth living for. mostly my life is very grey and i'm so thankful to s...

of dragons & critters and yin & yang kittens.

my cat shadow is a very prolific cat and gives birth to baby sweethearts annually. we always let them grow up until they're old enough to be given away. growing up in a huge garden where they can roam around freely - isn't that the best way to grow up? it's always a joy to visit my parents and my cat in that time of the year. i have also included some pictures of a little rhine trip i made in the middle of may. and the occasional random ones that didn't fit somewhere.  rhine wood dragon. sitting on the rhine beach enjoying the beautiful day. my stone collection of the day. ( i seriously have a lot of stones in my home. i love to collect them! ) the river rhine near eltville. random skull assortment ( shot this at the naxoshalle in frankfurt - i was there for a japanese movie festival ) rosey roses. they also smelled heavenly. raindrops on my window. chameleon tail. i adore spirals. baby kittens drinking momma m...
