weekly glee #5 2009

well, it's time for a weekly glee post! very much time has flown by since the last so i think i should finally show you what i liked most the last few weeks.

1. GEDICHTE / GERMAN POEMS AND POETRY
this site is a very great one that i stumbled over while searching after some poems that i want to present on my mother's 50th birthday. i did not find a poem whatever, but this site is such a treasure! poems over poems from rilke to goethe to schiller and sachs. i will most likely find poems here when i search after fitting words for blog entries! or when i want to find poetry of some certain writer. love! ( still, it seems like i have to write my own birthday poem for mom ;O; i have no muses kissing my head recently... )

2. SHOELUST

recently i kinda turned into a shoe addict. i only have few pairs, but i loooove to look at pretty shoes! shoelust has a lot of crazy and beautiful shoes like the ones above, how can you walk in these?

3. lucy chadwick and duffy in london with special guest emma by the selby

the selby is a site about mostly... interiors. well known people show him their houses, flats, work places, shops. it's really interesting and sometimes you find very cute interiors or places! like the one of lucy chadwick and duffy! i love the light colours and the little details they have in their place!

4. Theater of Fashion by Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia October 1998

stephen meisel is normally one of the photographers i don't really like, but this time two of his photography projects surprised me. theater of fashion is such a significant photoshoot with a story! most of the time it's all about clothes in many photoshoots, but in this one you don't really look at them. it's the faces and poses that strike me. great!

5. Eugenia Volodina, Gemma Ward, Hana Soukupova by Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia September 2005

this is the next stephen meisel photoshoot that i loved. it's the graffitti styled surroundings and makeup that makes this photoshoot very strong and powerful.

6. Veronika Antsipava by Luis Sanchis

this photoshoot is one huge dedication to the sea. the mood of these pictures is so melancholic and at the same time it kind of makes oneself very happy in a calm way.

7. Valentine Fillol-Cordier by Melodie McDaniel for Elle June 2008

well, i'm not a huge pink/rosé lover but this photoshoot and some of the clothes are very nice to look at. i guess, it's the nature surroundings that caught my eye. and the shoes. oh lord, these shoes are fantastic.

8. at the salton sea

on abandoned places i find truly intriguing locations at times, like this one. the photographer, capthek has some great skills in capturing this place!

well, i'm going to have strawberry-cream dessert now, until next time!

november: kickelhahn, himmelblau & weimar cemetery.

i had a week off in november and visited my parents ( as i often do on my vacations ). on a sunday morning we headed to the thuringian forest to climb onto the peak of the kickelhahn mountain. the kickelhahn mountain is the landmark mountain of the city of ilmenau . johann wolfgang von goethe , the famous writer & philosopher, often visited ilmenau and also climbed the kickelhahn. oftentimes he stopped at a little hut in the woods to relax for a while and on one of these stops he wrote one of his most known poems.  our little adventure didn't last the whole day, though, as we had a little date with the weimar cemetery to look after the grave of my grandparents and then to visit my cousin and his family. tiny peek onto the kickelhahn tower. thuringian woods - deep dark green. at the goethe hut. this plate shows the german version of the poem goethe wrote here. inside the hut. and here's the english translation. i love this poem so much, as ...

it's that time of the year again.

july '20: lake petersdorf discoveries and a plea against genocide.

the green wild meadows of malchow's sandfeld. in the west of malchow there is a big chunk of forest that spans towards plauer see, a widely 'uncultivated' area these days, but it hasn't always been this way. in my last post i mentioned the nazi munition factory that had been built in these woods, away from prying eyes of their enemies and where they also built an external subcamp for the concentration camp ravensbrück. exactly these woods we explored on a pretty sunny day, betraying the darkness that happened around these parts. isn't it weird that there are places in this world that were built or used by dark forces and horrible regimes and you vist them 80 years later and they are the most peaceful places you can imagine? sometimes my brain can't cope with the contrast of knowing what was in the past and what the present looks and feels like. it definitely leaves me with a strange impression often, kind of like a little sting in my heart and brain that is not ...
