MONDAY

monday was pretty icy and stuff, i found it beautiful. i posted this before but as a different version. i like this one better.

TUESDAY

shadow creeps in occasionally, but most of the time when no one's at home except me. because i have a weak heart and i love her to roam around the house.

WEDNESDAY

here she is sleeping on the couch in the computerroom. lovely.

THURSDAY

still icy garden. but the snow is falling sometimes as well.

FRIDAY

my mom and me play this quiz game a lot these days. i love quizzes! sometimes it helps when i think i'm not very smart. they show me that i'm not too stupid

on saturday i worked the whole day and didn't have time to shoot any pictures. additionally i just wanted to relax when i was coming home.

SUNDAY

we made a winter walk yesterday near castle ettersburg. there were a lot of people and skiing and sledding kids, so we made a huge round around them. i don't like that much people around me. makes me sad sometimes, but i think i'm not able to overcome that any time soon. the only occasions i'm bearing masses of people is when going to concerts, it's just different then.

the castle has been renovated last year, it's quite beautiful now. sometimes i think though, that it would've been great to have a closer look at the ruins, but time's went by.

some history:
o it has been built by johann mützel in 1706 - 1711
o anna amalia of brunswick-wolfenbüttel lived there from 1776 - 1780
o because of her patronity goethe, schiller, herder and a lot of other well known personalities at that time were having meetings in summer times there.
o in the 19th century other famous persons have visited the palais : hans christian andersen, franz liszt and many more.
o there was a school located there in the 20th century (wernher von braun was one of many teachers ), it was closed after the world war II ended 1945. there was a huge lane to KZ BUCHENWALD as well, they opened it again in 1999.
o in 2007/2008 the castle has been renovated after it slowly went to rack and ruins.

november: kickelhahn, himmelblau & weimar cemetery.

i had a week off in november and visited my parents ( as i often do on my vacations ). on a sunday morning we headed to the thuringian forest to climb onto the peak of the kickelhahn mountain. the kickelhahn mountain is the landmark mountain of the city of ilmenau . johann wolfgang von goethe , the famous writer & philosopher, often visited ilmenau and also climbed the kickelhahn. oftentimes he stopped at a little hut in the woods to relax for a while and on one of these stops he wrote one of his most known poems.  our little adventure didn't last the whole day, though, as we had a little date with the weimar cemetery to look after the grave of my grandparents and then to visit my cousin and his family. tiny peek onto the kickelhahn tower. thuringian woods - deep dark green. at the goethe hut. this plate shows the german version of the poem goethe wrote here. inside the hut. and here's the english translation. i love this poem so much, as ...

it's that time of the year again.

july '20: lake petersdorf discoveries and a plea against genocide.

the green wild meadows of malchow's sandfeld. in the west of malchow there is a big chunk of forest that spans towards plauer see, a widely 'uncultivated' area these days, but it hasn't always been this way. in my last post i mentioned the nazi munition factory that had been built in these woods, away from prying eyes of their enemies and where they also built an external subcamp for the concentration camp ravensbrück. exactly these woods we explored on a pretty sunny day, betraying the darkness that happened around these parts. isn't it weird that there are places in this world that were built or used by dark forces and horrible regimes and you vist them 80 years later and they are the most peaceful places you can imagine? sometimes my brain can't cope with the contrast of knowing what was in the past and what the present looks and feels like. it definitely leaves me with a strange impression often, kind of like a little sting in my heart and brain that is not ...
