weekly glee . 15th december - 21st december 2008

i'm sorry, but this week i'm a bit late with posting! i have a lot to plan and to do because of the moving ( which is now delayed until february 2nd much to my discontent ), and there were happening a lot of things so... that's why.

this week i don't really have... well, life-related glee things but just stuff i found on the internet or was directed to.

and sorry for my horrible english in advance, i'm in a very strange emotional state right now because of crazy things going on regarding my work. it's possible that my english is a bit chopped because of that.

but onto some nice stuff!

"in your dreams"-photoshoot by sebastian faena

i love the vivid colours and how the fashion somehow... flows! it's classic and modern at the same time! i especially love this picture and this one.

"french twists"-photoshoot by annie leibovitz

this one is an ode to 17th century fashion and absolutely glorious! i can't describe exactly what i love here... maybe it's the small stories those few pictures tell? well for mostly, these photographs depict my love for everything that's old and gone, even though those times were hard times, too! well, not always for the rich, but still. the clothes are great! and hey! gerard derpardieu!

"pure poison"-photoshoot by patrizio di renzo

this one has been made to actually show jewellery, but i love the elegance in these! and i also loved the above picture pretty much, because of obvious napoleonic relatings. still, the jewellery is not mine, i'm barely wearing jewellery at all! the black-and-whiteness dotted with a few bright details made me fall in love with this photoshoot.

and a video! beware! it's not quite the beauty but still hilarious!

this made me lol so hard. especially when i finally noticed after... a very long time, believe me, that justin timberlake takes part in it. but still!

and some
internet findings!

have you ever heard of coilhouse - a magazine newly founded by 3 wonderful women about alternative culture ( art, fashion, technology, music, whatever you can imagine! )?
well, it's time you do! they blog about anything they discover, may it be music reviews, archeological/architectural news or just 'better than coffee'-entries! search for obscure, funny and interesting facts? visit coilhouse! i'd really like to own a magazine of theirs, but... it seems there's no shipping overseas. so i drool over the blog stories they have in store, it makes me happy, too.

like when i found this!

i love this animation so much. everything's drenched in sadness, but still there's so much wonderful details to observe and to listen to and it's all kinds of glorious. what disney made out of the little mermaid is nothing against this! this is the real little mermaid!

and last but not least:
this is very cheesy and all, but... this is my christmas song this year! last year rudolph, the rednosed reindeer was everything that my brain was playing and this year, it's this! well, i suppose just because of bob dylan. or maybe cindy lauper. but bob dylan mostly. yeah, i SAID it's cheesy!

so... that's it this week! until next week! and of course! I WISH YOU A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS! may it be not that stressful for you like it is for me this year! and spread the love!

november: kickelhahn, himmelblau & weimar cemetery.

i had a week off in november and visited my parents ( as i often do on my vacations ). on a sunday morning we headed to the thuringian forest to climb onto the peak of the kickelhahn mountain. the kickelhahn mountain is the landmark mountain of the city of ilmenau . johann wolfgang von goethe , the famous writer & philosopher, often visited ilmenau and also climbed the kickelhahn. oftentimes he stopped at a little hut in the woods to relax for a while and on one of these stops he wrote one of his most known poems.  our little adventure didn't last the whole day, though, as we had a little date with the weimar cemetery to look after the grave of my grandparents and then to visit my cousin and his family. tiny peek onto the kickelhahn tower. thuringian woods - deep dark green. at the goethe hut. this plate shows the german version of the poem goethe wrote here. inside the hut. and here's the english translation. i love this poem so much, as ...

it's that time of the year again.

july '20: lake petersdorf discoveries and a plea against genocide.

the green wild meadows of malchow's sandfeld. in the west of malchow there is a big chunk of forest that spans towards plauer see, a widely 'uncultivated' area these days, but it hasn't always been this way. in my last post i mentioned the nazi munition factory that had been built in these woods, away from prying eyes of their enemies and where they also built an external subcamp for the concentration camp ravensbrück. exactly these woods we explored on a pretty sunny day, betraying the darkness that happened around these parts. isn't it weird that there are places in this world that were built or used by dark forces and horrible regimes and you vist them 80 years later and they are the most peaceful places you can imagine? sometimes my brain can't cope with the contrast of knowing what was in the past and what the present looks and feels like. it definitely leaves me with a strange impression often, kind of like a little sting in my heart and brain that is not ...
