november '17: thuringian landscapes.

unstrut river . i had two weeks off in november last year in which i spent my time at my parent's place for the first week, before travelling with them to potsdam in the second.  my mom & me shared quite some time together in that week, taking walks around some of my favourite places of my home state. we often visit a part of the unstrut river around the city of sömmerda that i particularly like and that i never visited when i was a child. i don't know why my parents never introduced me to this area, i guess they just weren't interested enough in visiting a place they thought of as mundane. mundane! even though the river's rather small & contemplative here, i don't think it's mundane at all. it is surrounded by willow tress & poplars & it absolutely reminds me of a jungle river sometimes. i am deeply in love with this body of water, and when i think of it the feeling of home sets in immediately. fortunately my parents finally thin...

october '17: castle of happy return.

castle of happy return in wolfersdorf. in late october / early november i made my way to thuringia again, to spend the first week of  my vacations at my parent's place ( the second week we drove to potsdam ). on the last day of october we made our way to a tiny village called wolfersdorf , for the main reason of visiting a hidden castle and a market that took place there. the day started out really dark & moody, but it brightened up later. in retrospect i really liked getting to know this little gem of thuringia that's hidden in the back country somewhere near jena. to get there we had to drive on a very bumpy road, passing by cows & hilly meadows, actually a really tranquil region. more than once i thought to myself, my goodness, where are we driving to? because the place seemed so sealed off from civilization. in the end, i really loved exactly this fact. i would love to visit this region again in the future, for sure. wolfersdorf castle was erected from 15...

october '17: experiments in bingen.

leaf camouflage. in late october i've been visiting a friend in bingen, a city next to the river rhein. we had her niece with us, which made our walk a lot more fun as that's the perfect excuse to be a bit more childish and playful as well. we made our way to a park situated along the river where we built leaf hills to jump into and participated in some wild leaf fights. autumn is just so perfect, especially for a child - at least in my opinion.  since we've been such a playful group that day i decided to experiment with the way on how to take pictures. i have several programs installed on my camera that i rarely use, but this time i felt like i needed to test those waters out a little more. my friend loves to take photos as well, so she never exerted pressure on me to move on, but instead i could take my time, since she herself also was shooting things and stopping from time to time. i'm often a little sad that we both meet up only once in a while, because w...
