ghost of nature.

from time to time i set out to rediscover the town i am living in - wiesbaden . and it's sometimes a very strange thing as i am still finding places that i haven't been to yet and still discover details in this city that i haven't found before. wiesbaden is not huge, it only has around 275.000 inhabitants and the it's rather rural, actually, with many districts being in the countryside. still, it is huge enough for me, and i wouldn't want to live in a bigger city. i like it when a city is walkable and overseeable, big cities like frankfurt, berlin or cologne are nice to visit once in a while, but they are crushing me if i stay there longer than necessary. wiesbaden is the perfect inbetween actually, it's not too small but also not too big and it's in a region that is full of beautiful nature areas, which is what i actually adore the most. if i had to live in a less green city, it'd be a huge turmoil to my well-being. alas, i still hope to someday move o...

every sunday i head out to hike or to walk or to hike in my region, simply because i need to get out of the house and out of town ( ceilings caving in over my head are a real thing in my life - and to stay as sane as possible to get out is something that i really need to do, otherwise i'll end up depressed as f*** - i mean... additionally to the normal 'depressed' i'm experiencing all the time, which in the end is really no good solution for me ). to shake things up a little i change a bit how i structure my posts. this new column is called sunday walks, well, because they're pictures from my sunday walks, duh. in this particular walk/hike in march i was located in the middle of the rheingau region, namely in the little city of  eltville . it's one of the places i love to visit, mainly because i love its old city structure. eltville is in possession of castle ruins, it's the town of roses and it has several village districts that i visit time and time a...

there's a world-known abbey nestled inside the precursor mountains of the taunus range, one of the most rich and powerful in its medieval heydays and to this day still unfluential on all kinds of people because of it's changeful history - eberbach abbey . it's widely original layout and mostly undestroyed buildings are what makes it so special, it's a picture perfect example of a medieval abbey. it even served as a film location for umberto eco's ' the name of the rose '- a lot of the interior takes were recorded there. i revisited this magnificient abbey in early march, but not to visit the museum, but to do a little hike around it. an element of the lay brother building. i loved the shadows of the tree on the building. the main lay brother building and on the right the former mill and barn buildings that serve as a hotel now. this property is outside of the monastery, but i bet it was once part of the monastery as well, probably anothe...
