i visited hattenheim on a foggy november day and made a little walk around the town. if the city of hattenheim was a person its job would be winemaker and grower. it's a typical rheingau location, everyone's living for the wine and its kind of great, this community. at least that's what my brain tells me.
wine arches.
a tiny bit of reichartshausen castle, which is part of the european business school campus.
i don't what these signs are for, but my guess is some kind of identification mark for the vineyards.
golden vineyards in the fog.
the european business school also has a burmese temple on its site, which actually seems to be a present from the burmese dictator junta to an armament manufacturer based in the rheingau region. ( this story is really dirty and complex, but if you want to read more, here's a german article about it all. )
the european business school itself has been on the news pretty frequently the past years, as well. talk about business people and their dirty laundry. it's also in the news very often because of various initiation rituals of students that involve vandalism, excessive parties and the like. so... yeah, a pretty wild private institution. and everything happens behind the beautiful old walls of the castle in a region that is known for it's natural beauty.
i moved on through hattenheim city.
the 'city hall' of hattenheim. it's such a beautiful timber framed house!
hattenheim castle.
modern architecture meets medieval one.
next to the church st. vincent is this crucifixion group.
walking by the church.
the leaves of this maple tree were extraordinarily beautiful.
walking back to my car i passed by this old house with the best door.
on my way back to wiesbaden i drove by the state farm neuhof. the fog was pretty heavy up here and the sceneries were a bit haunting.
