october: freudenberg and frauenstein.

one sunday i made a walk around frauenstein, starting at freudenberg castle . the castle ground is part of a holistic project, that is actually pretty difficult to explain, because it's got to do with experiencing things, with sensing and feeling and taking in visual, sensual, emotional experiences. it is 'a field of experience for the sense and mind'. there are barefoot walks in the park and other activities. inside the castle you can experience a conglomeration of things, such as an ice cold chamber, several dark rooms to experience sense of touch or sense of taste and different sound spaces. i haven't been inside the castle yet ( but it's on my agenda, as soon as i find someone who wants to go with me, i suppose '_' ), but i've been visiting the castle gardens and parks a lot in those years i've been living here and it's seriously one of my favourite places in wiesbaden. for this walk though, i didn't stay at the castle grounds but walked...

october: autumnal wiesbaden.

october is my favourite month of the year. and it's not because my birthday falls into this time, but it's because of how nature changes. the golden light, red and yellow and brown colours, the colour change of green into warm tones, the brightness of summer finally fades into these hues of warmth and there's this nostalgic feeling in the air. i love when nature 'dies' it just glows up again before it is letting go of its vibrancy. mushrooms are growing, the leaves get a last vibrant colour before leaving their home trees, and the sun with its golden shine... it just feels like homebase to me. autumn is kind of my happy place when it comes to favourite seasons. i often do more walks in autumn than in any other seasons. i just want to enjoy this time as much as i can. i also love spring for the exact same kind of feelings. because there are dots of colours budding up again in a grey world. i love the birth and death of nature so much and spring and autumn, they repr...

october: walk around burg-hohenstein.

most people love to spend their time on sundays at home, relaxing, sleeping in, lounging etc. not me. i will always try to get out of the house to do a walk or hike, because during the week my life only takes place in my workplace and my flat. and that's it. so on sundays i NEED to get out because of a severe case of cabin fever. for this october hike i chose the area of burg-hohenstein as my next destination. i think i walked 12 kilometres on that day, but i'm not actually sure ( i guess it was more about 10 ). it was definitely a long one. i started out on the road to burg-hohenstein ( neuer weg ) and went along the river aar through the woods. then i took a path that lead to a ridge called gieshübel and then it wasn't that far anymore until i made my way back into the village from where i walked the neuer weg back down into the aar valley where my car was parked. at one point i thought i will never get out of the woods by evening, but i made it in the end, because i wa...
