les vosges en automne. gérardmer.

the lac de gérardmer is a huge natural mountain lake in a beautiful scenery. we walked around the whole lake ( there was an adventurous hiking trail on one side of the lake - very slippery! ). after the hike we decided to drive to kaysersberg - a medieval town in the alsace region ( pictures coming in a separate blogpost ). it was a very good day with a lot to see. lac de gérardmer. i loved how these kajaks looked. it was a very icy morning, and this is proof of it! tree roots. this was the adventurous part of our walk, we really had to be cautious because the tree roots everywhere were really slippery. the red clothed person is my mother. here you can see perfectly what the pathway looked like. the blue of the water was astonishing. mom and dad enjoying a lake view. it was early november and some flowers were still blooming! a shimmering granite. this is called 'la roche du diable' - the devil...

there is a hiking trail around girmont-val-d'ajol which, yes, leads you to several lakes. we had beautiful weather for our hike, the sun was shining until the very evening. the only downside of this day was the fact that we got lost due to my father's belief that we had to go a totally different way that would lead us back to our car. whereas i constantly told him that we were heading into the wrong direction, explaining it to him with the help of a map and telling him more than once that he was wrong. my mother believed me, i believed myself, but my dad was stubborn enough to start a fight. it was a very serious argue in which i started to scream out of frustration and immediately turned around to walk the correct way. my mother followed me, my father took the other direction. after quite some walking i stopped, having a bad conscience about the fight and i walked back to talk to my father another time. we met halfway, because he finally consulted his smartphone and came to ...
