may: abundance.

every year it amazes me: spring and its colour explosion. while i adore autumn for the same reason, it is a different notion that hits me in spring. it's rebirth, budding anew, it's an awakening. i love spring for this, as much as i love autumn for the decay, for going underground, back to earth and soil, painted like fire, like inferno, roaring up before it ends in winter. this circle is what enamours me the most about these two seasons, the start and the finish of something, and those two connecting like an ouroboros, metaphorically speaking. round and round, the world dies and is reborn, is reborn and then dies, again, and again, an endless circle.

spring brings hope for something new, and it opens your eyes to the beauty of the world, something we tend to overlook quite often. it reminds you of not giving up, even if it is only the desire of getting to see the abundance of colours every year, and drinking it in, fueling your inner well, in hope that it won't dry out so soon again.

feathery things.

this jewish graveyard is kept away from the public behind high walls because of cases of vandalism in the past. it is located in diefflen/dillingen, in the state of saarland. my dear friend l., who is originally from here, showed me this little pearl while we were visiting her family. i was too small to overlook the walls, so these pictures actually were not shot by me, but my friend. so grateful for tall friends ;P

the graveyard is the biggest jewish one in whole saarland. there are about 470 gravestones.

in the middle of may i visited my parents. the annual meeting of schlossvippach and its twin city ramonchamp took place and i wanted to be part of that this year. i've been attending those meetups since i was a kid, until i moved away to wiesbaden. every year they visit each other in either france or germany and even though i'm never quite able to visit them in france,( the date they always visit our twin town is a public holiday - pentecoast - and i always have to work on that date, because people go crazy ) i often manage to take part in germany. but it's not that grave, 'cause outside of that official meet-up we visit our french friends as well ( it happened in october this year, and it was so good ).

but first, some garden shots. i probably mentioned it a hundred times already, but i'm obsessed with my parent's garden.

peonies.

this almost black tulip made my heart jump. the velvety look of it is really something,

the japanese cherry tree had its first full bloom! quite a little wonder, seeing he's still a baby tree.

its twigs were heavy with oversized blossoms.

more beautiful tulpis.

and a very extravagant variety, the fringed tulip.

the tulips this year came in bulks. these are rather alien-looking.

baby pink dream.

the cherry trees were blooming, too *_*

it is wonderful to see nature blooming like this and it already makes me excited for next year.

if anybody reads this, what are your favourite seasons and most importantly, why?

in the forests.

it's that time of the year again.

july '20: lake petersdorf discoveries and a plea against genocide.

the green wild meadows of malchow's sandfeld. in the west of malchow there is a big chunk of forest that spans towards plauer see, a widely 'uncultivated' area these days, but it hasn't always been this way. in my last post i mentioned the nazi munition factory that had been built in these woods, away from prying eyes of their enemies and where they also built an external subcamp for the concentration camp ravensbrück. exactly these woods we explored on a pretty sunny day, betraying the darkness that happened around these parts. isn't it weird that there are places in this world that were built or used by dark forces and horrible regimes and you vist them 80 years later and they are the most peaceful places you can imagine? sometimes my brain can't cope with the contrast of knowing what was in the past and what the present looks and feels like. it definitely leaves me with a strange impression often, kind of like a little sting in my heart and brain that is not ...

july '20: a boat ride across the lakes.

starting point in malchow harbour. when you're in the mecklenburg lakelands you need to do some of the many boat rides they offer up all around the various lakes! that's really sort of the best way to get a little overview over the many lake destinations and being on the water and feeling the wind on your face ( or the rain 😂 ) and seeing the life in the water and the landscapes around you, it's just special, i think! they often also tell you historic bits and pieces of the lakes, informing you on possible sights you should seek out, too! when you book a tour, you can choose between big day trips crossing several lakes, depending from where you start, or you can choose short rides that last a couple of hours and perhaps even have a theme like a sunset tour or a romance tour ( possibly with romantic dinner for two options 😉 ). from malchow you can choose between two tour providers: reederei pickran & the blau-weiße-flotte . there are tours that include up to 7 lakes, ...
