february '18: patches of snow.

squirrel alarm! the end of february came up with some real frigid days - and some snow, too! and that wasn't even the last one, as winter had a hard time leaving us this year and stayed way into the middle of march. while i was frolicking about spring arriving in my last post ( mainz-walking ), i soon had to realize that, nope, it wasn't over yet. winter still had us in its grip. on one such wintery day i left my flat for a small walk near frauenstein, particulary around the gänsheck area, which is an area that's used for agriculture mostly. you can find a cute farm there, called hof armada, which keeps a lot of horses & ponies. there are also a lot of vineyards in that area, so that means it's hilly and full of nice views over the landscape. on my walk i encountered quite a bit of wildlife ( and farmlife, too ;) ), which was amazing and made me happy as a bee on the quest of searching and finding lots of pollen for honey producing ( 😂 ). i feel wa...

february '18: mainz-walking.

the tree of life. i live very close to the city of mainz and it's actually a shame that i haven't yet explored this place more thoroughly. so on one day in february ( while on vacations i didn't spend at my parent's place ) i decided to hop onto a train and ride the 15-minute way to mainz, determined to finally start mainz-walking and getting to know this city that's just a stone's throw away from where i live. i had a friend living in the city of mainz once, and every now and then we'd meet up for a coffee or two, but never quite exploring the city. i only ever saw it on very short visits, and it involved the inner city most of the time, not even close to neustadt or the harbour areas or any other part of town. i really want to change that in the future and get to know the sister city of my home town erfurt more closely. it seems like i finally may be following through with this plan, because i recently got to know someone who knows the city like the...
