signs of spring.

last week temperatures crawled up to 15 degree celsius and the first signs of spring showed up! it was definitely what i needed after having a depressive phase that lasted almost 2 months. i feel like i woke up from hibernation. so i decided to have a walk through the nerotal park with j.. didn't do that before. sometimes you have to look at your city with the eyes of a tourist. wiesbaden in my mind - as a citizen - is a town that thinks too high of itself. but when you look at it from a different perspective the city is also really beautiful. it's situated by the rhine, by the taunus, near the rheingau. it has a long history ( some of it is still visible - roman architecture etc. ). what makes wiesbaden stand out are its wilhelminian time mansions and town houses. and it's very green and full of nature. the town itself is quite a beauty... and the citizens know it. what they don't know is that some creativity would do this place good. i miss the small individual ...

london in february: day 4.

the last day in london was a hard one. as in saying goodbye to this bustling town. because on the last day london showed itself from its best side. the sun was shining and we decided to roam through spitalfields ( shoreditch area ) and brick lane before we had to head to heathrow for flying back to germany.  spitalfields mesmerized me a lot. all the brick houses and urban surroundings - it felt very artistic & young here. there are so many good little shops and cafes here and everything is full of art, in every corner! some markets opened when we made our walk, markets for everything selfmade! food, clothes, vintage, antiquities. and there was so much i would have liked to buy. unfortunately time was gnawing on us, so i declined buying the tastiest foods, cheeky selfmade clothes... next time! i'm really missing london. i  never thought that overall i would love to come back again. i don't like huge cities, and london is sheerly massive and not at all overviewable...

london in february: day 3.

day 3 was dedicated to the main attractions of london. we didn't enter them because of long waiting lines or because we simply wanted to run around to see everything. it was a little bit chaotic and there were times were i almost wanted to throw my arms into the air and scream of frustration like when we entered piccadilly circus ( because of masses of people demonstrating ), or when we wanted to get on the london eye or into the sea aquarium. it was a day of walking and our feet hurt quite a lot at the end of the night. the best thing to do on such a day is having a time out in st. paul's cathedral at 5 o'clock past noon because evensong takes place and you don't need money for entering the church then. it was such a relief to sit down and to listen to the choir and hearing the priest's readings. and having a look onto the enourmous beauty that is st. paul's cathedral. we walked back home after evensong in a better mood, bought some not so great salads on the ...
